Construction has commenced for Bathers Park
With a focus on bringing the beach to the park, drawing inspiration from the community's partnership with Surf Life Saving WA - the theme of Bathers Park has a focus on beach safety and surf rescue providing quality play and recreation areas, plus training spaces for the Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club.
The final design includes a playground with play items that are wheelchair accessible, two sand beach volleyball courts, two picnic and barbeque areas, an amphitheathre and entry plaza with room for up to three food trucks. The hero of the space will be a bespoke 7 metre beach lookout tower with climbing nets, a lookout area/landing and large slide.
Throughout the development of the park, the natural landform will be maintained whilst also protecting the area from wind and limiting erosion. Over 80% of the plantings within the park will be native species, providing food sources for the Carnaby Cockatoos and other native animals.
