Alkimos Beach hosts more than 2000 people at Gateway Street Fair
On Saturday 18 November, the multi-award winning Alkimos Beach community developed by LandCorp and Lendlease hosted more than 2000 people at its second annual Gateway Street Fair.
The community could not have asked for better weather to showcase the coastal lifestyle at Alkimos Beach in Perth’s northwest corridor. The sun was shining as bright bouncy castles, fairies and music all made the family friendly event look contagiously fun.
With the support of Ecorp, the developers of the Gateway Shopping Precinct, a host of new retailers opened their doors for the day giving visitors a taste of what is to come at the exciting new shopping precinct.
Stage 1 of The Gateway Shopping Precinct is now complete, offering a diverse range of amenities and services to the fast-growing Alkimos Beach community. These include a 1,300sqm IGA, gourmet café, pharmacy, Alkimos Beach Medical Centre, Plus Fitness 24/7 gym, Alkimos Beach Early Learning Centre and Alkimos pop-up library.
There are also a number of amenities and services under construction and due to open later this year and in 2018. These include - a new children’s play centre, The Lighthouse, Alkimos Beach Tavern, Alkimos Tapas Bar & Restaurant, Pizza, Fish & Chips, Martial Arts and food outlets.
General Manager of Communities WA, Anthony Rowbottam said the event was a fantastic chance to showcase the growth of Alkimos Beach over the last 12 months.
“The Gateway Street Fair was a perfect way to showcase our vibrant coastal lifestyle to visitors and celebrate the achievements of the community over the last year which we are so proud of,” he said.
There was a strong presence of community groups at the event. Boomerang Bags, Alkimos Surf Club, Sprout Community Hub and Bike Doctor set up their stalls. The Alkimos Pop Up Library hosted a mini art exhibition with artworks from the Alkimos Beach Primary School. Alkimos Scouts Group raised $1,148 through their fundraising BBQ set up at the event.
“At Alkimos Beach we are passionate about creating a welcoming community where neighbours can get to know each other through community groups and activities,” said Mr Rowbottam.
“It’s these sorts of activities where residents get to meet at the beach and bond over shared interests that creates a well-connected community,” he said.
