Sand Dune Earthworks

We are pleased to confirm that earthworks are nearing completion on the dune opposite Alkimos Beach Primary School. This is part of the next stage of development throughout 2018/19 at Alkimos Beach.
The program will take approximately 6 months to complete with the following measures in place to ensure minimal impact to residents:

  • Dust and sand drift - ongoing management with the use of water carts, street sweeping, hydro mulch and temporary irrigation.
  • Operating hours - limited per the conditions of development approval to limit noise impact to the residents.
  • A program and plan of the works can be viewed at the Sprout Hub community notice board.

If you have any queries about these works please contact the Lendlease Customer Service Centre on 1800 255 466 or [email protected].

Fitness Park is Open for Business and Play

The new Fitness Park is a place for residents and the wider community to meet and play with a focus around exercise. The park is part of a much wider parabolic sand dune and we have worked hard with the Landscape Architect to keep the natural dune shape while incorporating fitness equipment, grass spaces, pathways and staircases.

The summit enjoys a 360 degree view of the entire community and the ocean out West and it is universally accessible by all ages and abilities. The park is an open space that retains existing native vegetation, a key sustainability goal of our community with trees for longer term shade. There is also a shade sail over the soft fall area plus two mature Coral trees.

A person of every age and background will find something for them at the Alkimos Beach Fitness Park.

Interpretive Signage

Keep an eye out for the Interpretive Signage Trails! An exciting new interpretive signage trail is currently being installed all around Alkimos Beach. The trail connects a series of interpretive signs and existing pathways, giving residents an opportunity to explore the Alkimos Beach neighbourhood while learning all about their community.

The signs include information about Noongar history, recent history, sustainability and local flora and fauna. Each interpretive panel is colour coded according to its subject matter. Keep an eye on the Alkimos Beach website for the online map, or come and grab a printed copy from one of our Sale Centres or the Alkimos Beach Pop Up Library. And if you need to challenge the little and big kids, there is a quiz available, too.
