Community Facilities

Take time out for yourself at one of our meditation classes, yoga sessions, join Alkimos Sewing Group, or spend quality time at the Alkimos Beach Pop-Up Library. Offering programs every day of the week for all ages, there’s Lego Club, Story Time and coding workshops for the young ones. And with over 1,000 books available for loan, pick up a great read and relax by the ocean as you get lost in the story.  

Alkimos Pop Up Library  

Located at the Gateway Shopping Centre, the Pop-Up Library has over 1,000 books and other items are available for loan from the shelves, as well as, free Wi-Fi and community notices.  

Members can check out and return their selections as well as pick up reservations using the self-check terminals and tablets. 

In addition to the regular morning library sessions, there are free weekly programs including: 

  • It’s All About Play and It’s All About Stories 
  • Lego Club 
  • First Aid workshops 
  • School Holiday activities 
  • Tech Help and more.

Just pop in and pick up your very own library card and a book or two, then head to library.wanneroo.wa.gov.au to complete your membership activation online.

The City of Wanneroo would love to hear from members of the local community who are interested in supporting the Alkimos Pop Up Library.  

The Pop-Up Library is also available as a free community space for your group to meet or run programs. Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting the City of Wanneroo.

Sprout Community Hub - Alkimos Vista

Open Thurs 9am-1pm, Fri & Sat 9am-3pm and Sun 9am-1pm

Located at Picasso Park, Alkimos Vista, the much-loved Sprout Community Hub is the place for residents to meet and connect over barista made coffee throughout the week.

Known as ‘A little place for a little while’ Sprout Hub is a temporary and early community activation centre, offering a place for residents and visitors to get a great coffee, attend events and workshops and connect with other community members.

Coming Soon – Leatherback Oval Sports Pavilion

Construction is underway on the new Leatherback Sports Amenities Building at Leatherback Oval, Alkimos Beach with plans to finish construction in November 2020.

Once finished the building will feature a bookable community multi-purpose room, two change rooms, kiosk, first aid room, umpire room and public toilets. Several sporting clubs including AFL, Lacrosse, Cricket and T-Ball already use Leatherback Oval for winter and summer sports.

The building can be booked via the City of Wanneroo Community Facilities booking team.
