The Harpley community signs-up for childcare

Lendlease’s newest community, Harpley in Werribee, is preparing to care for the next generation of local children, announcing an agreement with Wallaby Childcare to have a new facility complete by the time the first residents move in.

Lendlease General Manager for Victorian Communities, Neil O’Connor said it was an important first step on the road to becoming a connected, family-oriented community, with the centre set to provide childcare facilities for up to 140 children.

“We expect construction to start in July 2015 and to see the first children in the new centre in early 2016”.

“The community is designed to grow with its residents and we are excited that the childcare centre will be ready to accommodate children as soon as the first residents move in”, said Mr O’Connor.

The childcare centre – which has sister centers throughout Melbourne, including in the Lendlease developed Caroline Springs and Laurimar communities – will deliver high-quality care with a focus on enabling children to build their social, physical and intellectual skills.

“We place real importance on the sense of belonging within the community, making sure each individual child finds a real ‘home away from home’”, said Wallaby Childcare Owner, Brian Stynes.

The Harpley childcare centre will later be joined by a kindergarten, maternal health and child health services, two primary schools and a secondary school – as well as local sport and recreation facilities, and a new town centre for convenient waterside shopping and dining.

As a master-planned community, Harpley’s design is informed by the latest research on what makes a great place for families to live – with places to work, shop, play and enjoy – all set against a natural backdrop of a unique series of interconnected lakes and waterways.

The first Harpley residents are expected to move into the community in early 2016.
