Celebrating Multiculturism in Aurora

Celebrating Multiculturism in Aurora

On Saturday 24 August, the Aurora Community Association hosted its annual Multicultural Festival at the Galada Community Centre. This year, European culture was showcased which involved a live saxophone performance from Belgium, dances from Ukraine, Greece and Macedonia, and woodfire pizza and pasta making demonstrations from Italy.

The Aurora Multicultural Festival is an entirely community-based event. The performers and contributors live in Aurora and its surrounds and the day is organised by community volunteers to foster a sense of pride and care for one another amongst the Aurora residents.

Congratulations to all the performers on the day! Main St Funk Dance School, Lehenda Ukrainian Dance Company, Shanthi Ramakrishnan, Bollydance Dipti, Bollywood Fusion and Pan Macedonian Association of Melbourne and Victoria – you all did a fantastic job.

Thank you to Aurora Community Association for coordinating an amazing event. It was a lovely opportunity to celebrate the many cultures of our residents and demonstrate the positivity diversity brings.
