Aurora School Program

The ‘Our Aurora’ school program is a Lendlease initiative delivered as part of our community and placemaking strategy for Aurora. Created and delivered in partnership with Wurundjeri Land Council and SHP  ; local schools engage in a curriculum program that reveals the history of the site and the story of its people. Importantly, the program takes a shared history approach that enables the students to understand the continuity of Wurundjeri connection to country from the past to the present day.

The ‘Our Aurora’ school program commenced at Harvest Home Primary School on Harmony Day, March 2018, with 220 students participating in a Wurundjeri Smoking Ceremony; learning about culture and language; and enjoying fun cultural games. In Term 2, 70 Grade 5 & 6 Harvest Home Primary School students commenced the classroom based Our Aurora program led by the Wurundjeri education team.

In Term 3 & 4, 88 Year 7 students at Edgars Creek Secondary College completed the program, which commenced with a Smoking Ceremony performed by a Wurundjeri Elder.
