What is a Solar Tree?

Aurora has been carefully and deliberately planned to service the whole community.

As a 6 Star Green Star Community Aurora is committed to delivering new benchmarks in social, economic and environmental outcomes. So while the parks and playgrounds are definitely great for kids, there are benefits for adults and even the surrounding flora and fauna too. Enter the solar trees.

These graphic silhouettes that you may have seen around Aurora not only work as striking sculptures, they also capture and convert the sun’s solar rays into energy.

The solar trees have all been fitted with USB ports. That means that while the kids play, you can charge your phone so it’s ready to capture the next great photo as the kids slide or swing or kick the footy. Or if it’s a glorious day outside, bring along your laptop to one of the Aurora community’s multiple outdoor green spaces to answer your emails in the sunshine. You’ll be able to do this for free and it won’t cost the environment either.

The Aurora community has delivered the first five solar trees around the community – one in the Adventure Park, one near the Aurora Sales Office and three in the soon to open, Village Park.
