Minister for Education Visits Aurora
On Monday 19th June 2017 two Victorian Ministers of Parliament came to the Aurora community to check out the property for the brand new Edgars Creek Secondary College.
Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Thomastown Bronwyn Halfpenny had the honour of turning the first sod on site at the $12 million project with local students from the Aurora community.
“We’re getting on with the job of building better schools, so local students have the facilities and classrooms they need to succeed,” said Minister Merlino.
As well as the already announced state-of-the-art STEM (science, tech, engineering and maths) building, the Victorian Premier’s website also announced Aurora’s new high school will benefit from up to $4.7 million in funding towards a full-sized AFL grade football oval that will also contain training lights and a cricket pitch. This will be available for use by local sporting clubs in the Aurora community and beyond.
Edgars Creek Secondary College will open for enrolments in the third quarter of this year with teaching to start in Term 1 2018.
