New Station Designs Revealed

Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan has released designs for the new train station at Cobblebank (formerly referred to as Toolern Station), to service Melbourne’s booming outer western suburbs.

The designs include an accessible pedestrian overpass, secure bike parking, a bus interchange and car park.

The station, to be delivered as part of the half a billion-dollar Ballarat Line Upgrade, is located off Ferris Road in the suburb of Cobblebank will be a central feature of a planned town centre that will include community facilities and retail shops.

Once complete, the Government will also fund a new bus route to provide locals with more travel options and better access to key destinations and services, including the new station at Cobblebank, every day of the week.

“Public transport options are critical to helping create liveable suburbs for Melbourne, now and into the future.” says Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan. “We’re acting now to ensure the future residents of Cobblebank and surrounding new suburbs have access to good public transport so they can get where they need to go for work, study or recreation.” Preparatory works are already underway and construction on the new station is scheduled to start later this year.
