'Tis the season to be jolly in Yarrabilba!

Can you hear those sleigh bells ringing?! The festive season is upon us and the Yarrabilba community is set to come to life with exciting family-fun events. Here are some of the jolly events you don’t want to miss out on.

It’s a magical time of year at Yarrabilba, as our residents start decorating the Christmas tree, carols are playing on repeat and Santa is finalising his naughty or nice list in the lead up to Christmas Day.

If you’re looking for some jolly, family-friendly activities to indulge in, we’ve compiled a list of the best events the community has to offer.

Yarrabilba State School P&C presents Movie, Markets and Munchies
Saturday, 26th November - 5-9pm

Yarrabilba State Schools, Movie, Markets and Munchies event heralds the start of the festive season.

Haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet, then why not pop down and get your hands on some unique, creative gifts for the whole family. Don’t forget to bring your picnic rugs, chairs and appetite with a range of delicious meals on offer from a range of roving food trucks. This is followed by the screening of Christmas favourite, The Grinch at 7pm.

Limited parking is available. The public are invited to walk to the event and enter via the gate on Larimar Avenue.

Please note that there will be strictly no animals, alcohol or smoking/vaping.

Yarrabilba Mingle Markets
Friday, 9th December

Mark your calendar for the final Mingle Markets of 2022, with a festive twist. It’s the perfect opportunity to find a Christmas gift from a range of amazing local suppliers. You might also find something special for yourself.

These markets will provide a range of international food vendors, Christmas themed stilt walkers and roving characters, jumping castles, baby animal farm petting zoo, carnival games and face painter.

Live music will include multicultural Caribbean Parang Christmas songs, a crowd singalong and kids dancing competition.

  • QCWA Country Kitchens are doing a Christmas cooking demo and tasting on the 20th December 2022, 10-10.30am. Register your interest here 
  • Nb: Closed 22nd December 2022 till 8th January 2023
  • Art group workshops for 10-13 year old children on the 10th, 12th, 17th and 19th January 2023. Limited spots, please register here
  • Harmony Early Learning Journey are doing 2 ‘Get Creative with Clay’ sessions on the 18th January 2023. Session 1 from 9.30-10.30am. Session 2 is from 11am-12.30pm.

Dunamis Christmas Carols
Saturday, 17th December from 5:30pm

Dunamis Church Yarrabilba will be hosting a winter wonderland Christmas carols event for the whole community to enjoy.

Taking place from 5.30pm at Yarrabilba State Secondary College, festivities will include giveaways, carols and a special visit for the man in red, Santa Claus.

Seating is limited and will be allocated to a first come first served basis. Wheelchair access is available.

5FOLD Christmas Hamper Appeal

A little Christmas cheer for those in need. 5FOLD is excited to partner with Dunamis Church Yarrabilba to kick off their Hamper Appeal.

The not-for-profit charity which services the community, are looking for specific pantry items such as, pasta, pasta sauces; pancake mix; maple syrup, rice, shapes, rice crackers, shortbread and orange juice, biscuits, cake mix, corn chips and salsa, muesli bars.

HOW TO DONATE:

You're welcome to drop off your donations at the 5FOLD shop located at 23 Shaw Street, Yarrabilba or in the trolley at Coles Yarrabilba near the Community Notice Board.

If you would like to make a financial contribution, 5FOLD can take payment in their shop, over the phone or via their website here
