Go wild at Yarrabilba's new nature playscapes
Children of all ages will be able to run, jump and climb to the treetops, exploring the natural beauty of our community, with play forts, creek bed play, nature trails, learn to ride courses and teenage play areas.
Surrounded by the natural environment, more than 35 per cent of The Parks is dedicated to parklands and green space.
The power of outdoor play has been proven to offer a range of developmental benefits for children. By providing them with access to their natural environment, it encourages open-ended, imaginative, and unstructured play, building their self-confidence, increasing physical wellness, and improving creativity and self-regulation.
The new nature-based parklands at Yarrabilba will include a district sports park, a district recreational park, a neighbourhood park, a local park and linear open space. These Neighbourhood and two District Parks are connected by a cultural storyline/path. There will be endless opportunities for young minds to run wild and connect with the great outdoors. Parents may even find their own inner-child and enjoy some nature-play fun!
District sports park
The district sports park will be a recreational destination and a major activity generator for Yarrabilba and the broader community. The park will include extensive facilities for organised sporting codes, a bike skills area and will also feature the entrance to the wide ranging trail network in Plunkett Reserve.
District recreational park
Based on nature play and set within the natural environment, the district recreational park will complement the district sports park and the neighbourhood park. This exciting space will include BBQs and seating for picnicking, expansive open space to kick a ball, a climbing and play structure set within a treed environment, swings, a rock lined creek bed, as well as a dog park.
Neighbourhood Park
The Neighbourhood Park is located on the highest point of The Parks providing extensive 360 degree views over Yarrabilba and to Scenic Rim beyond. Located adjacent the new primary school, it will cater for school children and families in addition to local residents. Visitors will be drawn to this park for its views, cultural heritage, sense of nature and its physical and visual connection to the two nearby district parks. The park includes an existing rock outcrop and eucalyptus trees, a shelter, seating, play, a kick about area, cultural storytelling, pedestrian and cycle paths.
Local Park
The Local Park is located on the linear open space providing a respite for those journeying to the Town Centre, exercising or simply for the local residents to meet play or relax.
Linear Open Space
Boasting expansive green areas, the linear open space will be the perfect environment to foster recreational activities and events. The linear open space defines the western and northern boundaries to The Parks, providing a treed and safe connection to the future nearby Town Centre and The Plunkett Reserve.
