A very merry Christmas for new Yarrabilba residents

New to the neighbourhood, Steven and Rachel Tong will celebrate their first festive season in their new home in Yarrabilba, the perfect Christmas gift for their family.

As one of Australia’s fastest growing locations, the Tong family saw the growth potential of Yarrabilba, moving from the Redlands in April this year to build their dream home in Wickham Rise.

“When looking to build, my wife and I saw the progression of Yarrabilba, but it was the community that really sold us,” said Steven.

“The affordability of building in Yarrabilba also played a part in making our final decision to move here. House prices across Brisbane are crazy and it’s making it less and less attainable to own your own home.

“We have been in our new home for seven months now and are excited about spending our first Christmas here. We have a daughter in Year 8 at the local high school and two older children who now live out of home.”

To mark the merry milestone, the Tong family will host a special Christmas party in their new home, inviting neighbours and newfound friends.

“In our old neighbourhood, we never had this sense of community where neighbours looked out for one another. We even have a neighbour chat group that we all talk about different things and have jokes, but if someone needs anything, we all pitch in to help,” said Steven.

“It’s become more than a neighbourhood. There is a real family feel here and everyone has been very welcoming. We have made some really close friends and often have games nights and dinner all together. I’ve even helped neighbours improve their lawns.

“To celebrate our first Christmas in Yarrabilba, we will be inviting our neighbours to our home for a Christmas party. It’s a really nice feeling to be able to celebrate all our hard work.”

The Tong family are part of a growing number of new residents calling Yarrabilba home this Christmas.

Drawn to our green open spaces, thriving community hub and affordable house and land prices, Yarrabilba’s lifestyle and location has driven a surge of new buyers in the past 12 months.

Launched in 2012 as a priority development area for the fast-growing Logan corridor, Yarrabilba is already a thriving, modern township with four schools, two childcare centres, health services, a Coles supermarket, restaurants, cafes, sports fields and employment hubs. Our fifth school, a state primary school to be located in our latest neighbourhood, The Parks, will open to students in 2023.
