Kicking goals for Olympic rugby superstars!

Ready to take to the field and play ball? The Yarrabilba Bees Rugby Union Club and 1st Fives Rugby are officially relaunching on 27th May 2022, uniting the community and supporting the next generation of Olympic superstars.

Yarrabilba Bees Club President Nicola Frey saw an opportunity to ignite Yarrabilba’s love of the sport, bringing union back to our local fields.

“Yarrabilba is growing and I saw great potential to bring back rugby union and encourage the next generation to connect with their local community through the sport,” she said.

“Catering for both boys and girls aged 6-17, there are amazing opportunities for our players to build new skills, and form connections with likeminded people.

“With Rugby 7s being an Olympic sport, we could be providing pathways for our Yarrabilba players to compete in the 2032 Games.”

Nicola said she is excited to take over the lease at Shaw Street Oval and build an official home ground for the Yarrabilba Bees.

“The Yarrabilba club will be more than getting kids active, it will be creating a culture that connects the community,” she said.

“We are inviting the public and Yarrabilba residents to our official launch event on 27th May from 3pm. Come down and learn more about the sport and even sign up for this year’s season.”

Not forgetting the little ones, 1st Fives Rugby will also be taking to the field at Shaw Street, offering a play-based rugby program to 2-5 year olds.

“1st Fives Rugby are excited to join forces with the Yarrabilba Bees, creating an introductory grass roots rugby program for the little ones,” said 1st Fives Rugby Director Brooklyn Manu.

“Our program is a great way to get young ones involved in the sport and we are so excited to have a new home in Yarrabilba. We offer an engaging, family-friendly program that even the parents can get involved in.”
