The Countdown is on to the Festival of Fun

Everyone is invited to celebrate Springfield Rise’s newest community park, Silver Jubilee Park at its official opening on Saturday 22 April with a festive, fun-filled afternoon of games, giveaways and more!.

Join our local community for a festive, fun-filled afternoon to celebrate the opening of Springfield Rise’s premier park, Silver Jubilee Park, on Saturday 22 April from 2-5pm.  

The afternoon will feature games and competitions including a 30-metre inflatable obstacle course, lawn games, egg and spoon race, tug of war, circus games and stilts, face painting and a photobooth. There are loads of prizes and giveaways to be won, and delicious food options to keep everyone satisfied - including Dipp’n Dots and a sausage sizzle.

For cricket lovers, be sure to keep a lookout for Aussie cricket batting sensation, Usman Khawaja, who will be doing a special meet and greet at the event.  

A number of Springfield’s local sporting clubs will also be hosting activities, games and competitions throughout the afternoon. Here’s a look at the clubs with demonstrations:

  • Springfield Stingers – running drills, target kicking, giving away merch and prizes
  • AFL QLD – Brisbane Lions – passing/kicking drills, target practice and giveaways
  • Springfield Panthers – NRL inflatable game
  • Springfield Lakes Hawks – doing an inflatable passing target, small goal posts and tackling shields/tackling bags.
  • Greater Springfield Pioneers – early sign on, running games with prizes
  • Brumbies – basketball skills and competitions on the court
  • Springfield Lakes Netball – shooting competitions
  • Cricket QLD – bringing their mascot costume and running a ‘knock em down’ style game with balls
  • Brisbane Legends Cricket – fun activities
  • Baseline Tennis – inflatable mini tennis court.

Silver Jubilee Park is an outstanding 14.4-hectare recreational space centred upon two sporting fields and has something for everyone. The park features an adventure playground perfect for children of all ages, a local sports club, a cricket oval and six multi-purpose courts as well as BBQ areas, picnic shelters, kids playgrounds and open space.

  • The park has been structured to ensure there is room for less organised play to contrast the regulated sporting courts and fields
  • The park has an adventure track that offers a multi-user loop of challenges
  • Situated among mountainous terrain, the broader park reflects the local environment of Spring Mountain, as well as its connection to nearby urban centres
  • Planting beds surrounding the activity trail showcase native floral plants which attract the birds and bees by organising them into colour groups
  • Vee Design are the visionaries behind Silver Jubilee Park and are known for creating unforgettable spaces that promote connection, positive change and sustainability.
