REKON Youth at Greater Springfield
Are you a Springfield Rise family with teenage children? Introduce them to REKON, southeast Queensland’s exciting new program of free events for teenagers.
Our local YMCA Springfield Central Community Centre hosts REKON Greater Springfield, fortnightly on Fridays from 5pm until 8pm.
Kids can get creative with T-shirt printing and DJ masterclasses or try indoor sports including basketball and volleyball.
There’s also computer gaming, a chill out zone and much more. The Founder of REKON Youth Outreach Service, Rolando Pisia, wants teenagers from Springfield Rise to experience REKON Greater Springfield for themselves.
“We want these kids to see that anything’s possible if they have a go,” Rolando said. “We provide lots of different activities that everyone can try.

“These are all fresh, new experiences that create confidence and encourage the kids to focus on what they can achieve.
“We’re working to set up a volunteer music producer so anyone can create their own tracks in our recording booth, and we are introducing a video podcasting workshop.
“Our T-shirt printing activity is very popular so we encourage the kids to take it to the next level with their own fonts and logos, so they can understand how to create their own brand.
”With a focus on positive youth development and social emotional learning, REKON provides opportunities for young people’s personal growth and artistic expression.
“If any Springfield Rise parents want to see it for themselves they are welcome,” Rolando said. “There are lots of ways parents can support us, whether it’s spreading the word among their friends or by bringing their own skills to contribute.
“I’m excited to see REKON Springfield Central go from strength to strength as more local kids, parents and businesses see the benefits of getting involved.
