Home building chapter comes to a close for Springfield Rise’s Jaira and Mitch

We catch up with first home buyers Jaira and Mitch, who have settled into their dream home in Springfield Rise.

Springfield Rise Residents Jaira and Mitch

We’ve been following the story of first home buyer Jaira and her partner Mitch since early 2021, who have meticulously documented their house building journey in Springfield Rise through their Instagram account, Project Müdi.

Now that they’ve settled into their stunning two-storey home built by Simonds Homes, we caught up with Jaira to get her take on the first home building journey, what she loves about living in Springfield Rise, and her advice for other young couples considering building their dream house.

We last spoke with Jaira and Mitch in mid-2022, just before they were set to settle on their dream home. Seven months later, the young couple have well and truly embraced life at Springfield Rise – celebrating significant milestones in their home such as their first Christmas and New Years.

Owning their own home has also allowed them to welcome their first four-legged family member, Cara, who is reportedly loving life amongst nature in Springfield Rise.

“Our puppy Cara has settled well and has already made some adorable furry friends in the neighbourhood,” Jaira said. “Our neighbours’ lovely dogs have taken a liking to Cara, and they love to play together. Our next project is to work on our backyard and give Cara some soft grass to run around on and play fetch. We can’t wait to see her having zoomies and making more furry friends in our friendly community!”

Jaira describes her new life in Springfield Rise as ‘an absolute dream come true’, from the friendly neighbours she passes by on walks right through to the close proximity to nature.

“We wake up every morning to the sweet sounds of birds singing in the nature reserve, and the sight of the sun shining through the trees as I go for my morning run is truly breathtaking,” Jaira said. “Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and it’s heart-warming to see how many people wave and greet each other as they pass by. Walking our puppy Cara has been such a joy, as she loves to meet new dogs and people. It’s been a great opportunity for me to connect with our neighbours and get to know them better.”

While life in Springfield Rise is just beginning for Jaira and Mitch, the couple say they’re excited to see what the future holds in their beautiful new home.

Building a home brings about excitement and challenges for any purchaser, but when you’re a first home buyer, there are additional layers to consider, such as financing, government grants and more.

Now that Jaira and Mitch have finished their home building chapter, we asked them a couple of rapid fire questions to help other aspiring home owners wanting to build their forever home in Springfield Rise.

Springfield Rise: When did you move into your new home at Springfield Rise?
Jaira: We moved into our new home at Springfield Rise in September 2022. As we've begun to connect with our neighbours, we are building not just a home but a community. We may have only been here for a few short months, but we already feel like we are well-integrated into this vibrant neighbourhood!

Springfield Rise: Aside from getting to move into your new home, what has been the best part of the home building process?

Jaira: Building our dream home has been an incredible journey filled with excitement and creativity! For me, the best part was being able to choose every detail of our home, from the layout to the colours and textures. With each carefully chosen piece, we crafted a space that truly reflects who we are and what we value. It's amazing to see how our vision has come to life, with each room reflecting our unique style and personality.

Sharing our journey online has opened up a whole new world of connections with others who are also building their dream homes. It's comforting to know that we're not alone on this roller coaster ride, and we've gained so much inspiration and insight from seeing how others are tackling their builds. We're grateful to have found a community that understands the ups and downs of the building process.

It's also been heart-warming to share our journey with friends and family who live far away and couldn't be here in person. They've been with us every step of the way, and we've felt their love and support through it all. Building our home has been a true labour of love, and we're so excited to continue making it our own!

Springfield Rise: What advice would you give to other first-time home builders?
Jaira: To all the first-time builders out there, I want to offer some friendly advice based on my own experience. My biggest tip would be to savour the design process and invest your energy into the start. I was surprised to discover that the majority of the work happens right at the beginning, as you research your ideal locations and styles to find the perfect fit for your dream home. Take your time and really get to know yourself and your needs at your current stage of life. When it's time for the design consultation with your builder, be prepared to share your ideas and preferences. You'll be amazed at how many decisions you have to make in just one or two days!

Once the build begins, it's time to sit back and enjoy the ride. It's such a thrill to see your vision come to life before your very eyes! Before you know it, you'll be enjoying your dream home and making memories that will last a lifetime.
