The spirit of 'Goodwill' is coming to The Crossing!
Children of all ages and abilities will be able to enjoy the best that Goodwill Park – the newest park coming to Springfield Rise – will have to offer.
Spanning 5,000m2, Goodwill Park will be located at the entry of The Crossing to create a pleasant, green, active and landscaped arrival to the village.
Goodwill Park is one of three parks coming to Springfield’s newest address, and will be the most urbanised out of these offerings due to its proximity to the Springfield Town Centre.
Lendlease State Urban Design Manager Sue Dewar said the young and young-at-heart will never run out of ways to utilise Goodwill Park thanks to the array of first-class equipment and amenity that will be on offer.
“The park includes flexible spaces as well as lots of embellishments including park benches, picnic tables, a drinking fountain, bike racks, recycle and rubbish bins, a picnic shelter, a shade sail over the play area, a play carousel, a 2-bay swing set including a bird’s nest swing and the main play feature which is a double mega tower with lots of play activities, including slides,” said Sue.
Set to be located within Springfield Rise’s upcoming display village, Goodwill Park will be a space not only for residents of The Crossing, but for visitors to the sales and information centre and display village. With ample footpaths and street parking nearby, it’s easy for everyone to access and make the most of Goodwill Park.
“The park is well connected by footpaths to the surrounding homes, parks and further afield to the local State Primary School and shops,” Sue said. “The majority of the park perimeter is surrounded by road providing ample parking, although it is envisaged the residents will walk or cycle.”
The design and influence behind Goodwill Park is connected to the nature and environment surrounding this encompassing greenspace, and will celebrate undulating landform while capturing views to White Rock-Spring Mountain Conservation Estate and beyond.
Goodwill Park will be completed ahead of schedule in March 2023 to coincide with the opening of the new display village and sales and information centre. While you wait for this impressive park to open, you can learn some fun fast facts about Goodwill Park.
Plants and vegetation
The plants chosen for Goodwill Park are primarily Australian native plants, handpicked by Lendlease’s urban design team to suit the location of the park and its surroundings. The selected species include many flowering species such as Callistemons (more commonly known as ‘bottlebrushes’), grevilleas and flowering gum trees.
A place for every member of the family
While it is not an off-leash dog park, Springfield Rise residents will be able to take their four-legged friend for a stroll through Goodwill Park. With a drinking fountain onsite, it’ll be easy for you and your pooch to stay hydrated on your daily walk!
No kids? No problem!
While the park was designed for Springfield Rise’s littlest residents in mind, Lendlease’s urban design team ensured there would still be plenty of activities for those wanting to enjoy the park without having kids in tow. Some of Sue’s suggestions for adults to enjoy Goodwill Park include:
- picnicking in the park with your friends or kicking a ball
- a destination for walks or bike rides, where you can utilise the drinking fountain
- to simply sit and relax in nature on the benches, all while enjoying the native planting and views
- a place to meet up with friends or host birthday parties or other milestones
What’s in a name?
Goodwill Park maintains a connection back to the whole village theme of crossings, as per the village name “The Crossing” which has been carried through street names throughout the precinct. The name ‘Goodwill Park’ comes from Goodwill Bridge in Brisbane. The name is appropriate for a local park central to the village that’s been designed to allow for large community gatherings.
