Community garden update

The Spring Mountain Community Garden is ready to grow in 2022!

An extensive consultation process, including First Nations perspectives from Winagnga-Li Biy’anga Consultancy, has delivered a plan for the garden which will be adjacent to Spring Mountain State School’s oval.

The design is inspired by the shape of a serpent with rock pathways connecting garden beds, yarning circles and a pond.

Cassie Boulter from Spring Mountain State School P&C is looking forward to seeing Springfield Rise locals bring the garden to life.

“We’ll hold our first working bee in the first half of 2022 and everyone is invited to lend a hand,” Cassie said. “All ages are welcome including experienced green thumbs and gardening first-timers.

“If you are interested in getting involved please join the Spring Mountain Community Garden Facebook group where you will find all our latest news and dates of upcoming working bees.

“Once the garden is established it will be available to the teachers as a space to be incorporated into the students’ learning, with an access gate from within the school as well as an external one for the community to use.”
