Health convenience is set to be amplified once the expansion of the Mater Hospital on Health Care Drive is complete.
Expanding on the existing Mater Private Hospital in Springfield, a new 174-bed public hospital is set to be built and ready for operation in 2024, which will include an Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Maternity Services and increased procedural areas.
A medical research precinct is also planned for Springfield’s ‘Health City’, which will bolster the knowledge of Queensland’s health workers and increase manufacturing capabilities for the medical industry.
This expansion is welcomed news for Springfield residents, who will save over 25 minutes in commute time for these kinds of services which are currently only offered by nearby hospitals such as the Ipswich General Hospital, St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The timing of this project aligns with the rapid growth of the Greater Springfield region, with prediction modelling indicating that Springfield and the nearby Ripley Valley catchment set to expand by 100,000 new residents in the next five years.
The addition of the new public hospital complements the already bustling Health City precinct. Set on 50 hectares of land, the space already includes senior living, a medi-hotel and specialist health suites.
The Greater Springfield region is also home to a thriving medical and allied health network. Whether you’re a new mum, young professional or a retiree, you can rest assured knowing that the essential health and wellness services you need are already on your doorstep when you call Springfield home.
