Several dignitaries were in attendance to celebrate the opening of the 14.4-hectare recreational space, including Member for Jordan Charis Mullen, Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding and Ipswich City and Councillor Paul Tully.
Attendees got a kick out of the featured games and competitions on offer at the Festival of Fun, which included a 30-metre inflatable obstacle course, lawn games, egg and spoon race, tug of war, circus games and stilts, face painting and a photo booth.
13 local sporting and community clubs hosted activations for the community to get involved in, giving them the opportunity to highlight the importance sport plays in young people’s lives.
Silver Jubilee Park is now open for play and features an adventure playground perfect for children of all ages, a local sports club, a cricket oval, six multi-purpose courts, barbecue areas, picnic shelters, kids’ playgrounds, and open space. The park also pays homage to 10 local athletes, with signs outlining their individual sporting achievements.
Congratulations to the Springfield Rise team for coordinating a stellar event.
