Shoreline ticks all the boxes for the Curtis family

Location was the driving motivation for one young family to kickstart their home building journey at Shoreline by Lendlease.

The contracts have been signed and planning is in motion for the Curtis family to build their dream home at Shoreline.

Building a home wasn’t always on the cards for Angela, her husband Tim, and their two young sons, but Shoreline’s convenient location was the motivation for the young family to change their mind.

“We had originally heard about Shoreline back when blocks first started being released, but we were not considering building at that point,” Angela said. “When we decided to build, we knew about Shoreline and thought it would be suitable for our family. The location was a big factor for us. We wanted something accessible to the highway as my husband and I both work a 30–40-minute drive away, yet also accessible by bus to the schools our kids go to.”

Purchasing land within The Reserve, the Curtis family are at the very beginning of their home building journey, documenting the exciting process via their home building Instagram account, @curtis.family.build. Signing their land contract in March, the family are hoping to start building their Dawn 26 by Brighton Homes between March and July 2024, in the hopes of celebrating their first Christmas in Shoreline next year.

Choosing Brighton Homes for their great reputation and quality homes, the Dawn 26 floorplan caters for a family-friendly lifestyle, offering Angela and Tim’s young sons the space they need to grow.

“The floorplan we have selected allows for both of them to have their own space without being stuck in their bedrooms. I also love that our main living and dining area is really spacious and allows us to spend time together without stepping on each other’s toes,” Angela said. “We had a really good experience with Brighton right from the beginning. They were very friendly and knowledgeable, especially considering this is the first time my husband and I are building. We know they have a great reputation for producing good quality homes. We’ve also found the inclusions with the Elwood by Brighton homes are excellent, such as high-quality flooring, ducted air-conditioning and solar.”

As this is the first home Angela has ever built, we asked her for her three top tips for other first home buyers at Shoreline to consider before embarking on the home building journey. Keep reading to find out her helpful tips and tricks!

Angela’s top tips for first-time builders at Shoreline

  1. Have extra cash set aside for upgrades

“I think it’s really important to save as much of a deposit as possible beforehand, and have some extra money put aside to spend on things like electrical upgrades, window coverings, landscaping, etcetera,” Angela said. “Lots of extra little expenses can continue to pop up!”

  1. Buying off-the-plan land gives you more time to save

“Something that has worked really well for us is purchasing off-the-plan land, where we still have plenty of time to continue saving, to maximise our deposit by the time we are ready to apply for finance,” she added.

  1. Get involved with your local community

“We are a part of a very friendly private Facebook group which has been really helpful for us so far,” Angela said. “I’m looking forward to building more relationships with our future neighbours as we progress on our build.”
