School’s in for 2024!

In 2024, the school bell will ring for the very first time at Shoreline, as gates open to the new state primary school, situated on the corner of Scenic and Serpentine Creek Roads – a short stroll for our Shoreline families.

Paving the way for the future leaders of tomorrow, a new state primary school at Shoreline will officially open their gates for the 2024 school year!

The new state school is currently under construction directly across from Shoreline on the corner of Scenic and Serpentine Creek Roads, a vital step forward for the fast-growing area of Redland Bay and our Shoreline community.

Catering for Prep to Year 6 for Term 1, 2024, Stage 1 will include an administration building, prep and junior general learning areas, student support and staff building, information and resource centre, music building, multi-purpose hall, canteen, oval, multi-purpose court, general and student amenities and car parking. The services run out of the school by independent providers will include an Outside School Hours Care, Canteen and a Uniform Kiosk.

The Queensland Education Department has stated that the new school would increase capacity in the local schooling network and support the future growth of the region. It will also provide enrolment relief to Redland Bay State School, Victoria Point State School and Mount Cotton State School.

Get to know the school’s foundation principal, Sue Hendriks

Education Queensland has appointed Sue Hendriks as the Foundation Principal of the new primary school.

Sue has over 30 years’ experience within education, working in towns and communities all over the state from the Torres Strait to Mount Isa, the Gold Coast and the Darling Downs region.

Most recently, Sue has been the Acting Principal at Dalby South State School and Principal at Texas P-10 State School.

Sue is relishing the rare opportunity of becoming a foundation principal and is looking forward to working with the Redland Bay community to develop a safe and inclusive primary school.

“I am honoured to have been given this responsibility and especially in the beautiful area of Redland Bay,” she said.

“I am looking forward to working with the community to collaboratively create a school full of learning, laughter and kindness.”

You can meet Sue at the school’s first community meeting in the next few weeks (date TBC), held at The Cage Youth Foundation. This meeting will be a chance for prospective parents and students to learn about the new school site, submit name suggestions and express interest in 2024 student enrolments. Further details will be published on the Shoreline Facebook page
