Laying the foundations for a close, connected community
The Blockley family are no strangers to the beauty of the Redlands Coast, calling the area home for several years.
Deciding to forge a new chapter in their lives and build their dream home, Shoreline was the obvious choice for Kaitlin, Alan and son Christopher.
“We already live in the Redlands area and Shoreline allowed us to build and create a new life for ourselves,” Kaitlin said.
“The future of Shoreline and the surrounding area were also a key player in us choosing to build here.”
The young family are building their dream home with Simonds Homes, choosing a home design that caters for a family-friendly lifestyle.
“Our new home allows for our family to have the room to entertain, and space to grow,” Kaitlin said.
“With a teenager, the layout allows him to have his own space, yet still be able to venture out into the main house for family time. With a large outdoor area, we will be able to spend many summer nights outside socialising whilst enjoying our spacious outdoor area with enough room for a puppy to play.”
While the Blockley family might not have a confirmed move-in date at Shoreline, one thing is for certain – the foundations of close, connected friendships with their neighbours are already set in stone.
“Our fellow residents are lovely and it has been wonderful to be on this journey with them,” Kaitlin said. “These are the people that we will be seeing every day for as long as we live in the estate, which we hope is a very long time. We have been able to give each other updates on our builds and we all get excited when things move along up and down our streets. We are all looking forward to seeing each other and meeting up for drinks when we are in our new homes.”
The Lendlease team behind Shoreline has made a conscious effort to create a close, connected community from the ground up. Since the early days of the project, Shoreline has hosted an array of Meet Your Neighbour events for residents to meet their neighbours in a relaxed and informal setting.
Shoreline Social Impact Manager Danielle Kollanyi said these events are the perfect opportunity for residents to connect with their future and current neighbours, allowing a connected community from the get-go.
"The community you want starts at your front door and setting up those community connections from the start help to create the foundations of a great community,” Danielle said.
The Blockley family has seized the opportunity to come along to Shoreline’s Meet Your Neighbour events and other community functions, which has allowed them to meet new friends and create connections for years to come.
“We have attended a few events for the Shoreline community which has been a wonderful start to our life in the estate,” Kaitlin said. “Christopher has enjoyed meeting children that he will be able to hang out with and hopefully become friends with from his new street. My husband and I have loved finding neighbours with similar interests that will be good to catch up and plan events with.”
