Redland Bay Tennis Club to ace awareness at ovarian cancer fundraiser

A partnership between Lendlease and the Community Enterprise Foundation, the Shoreline Community Grants Program has been developed to support local community groups and not-for-profits to deliver projects and initiatives that support social, environmental and economic outcomes.

Since the program’s inception in 2021, over $9,000 in funds has been awarded to local projects within the Redland Coast community, including Bayside Tennis Club – located in Redland Bay. This latest round is open until October 14 and offers grants from a total funding pool of $5,000.

Head Coach Tim Low is a Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach as well as a recognised Tennis Australia Talent Development Coach having athletes winning National singles and doubles Championships.

Bayside Tennis Coaching works closely with Tennis Australia providing a pathway to Tennis Australia National Academy by offering a range of programs for both juniors and adults.

We sat down with Tim to discuss the upcoming fundraiser and the importance of inspiring the next generation to pick up and racquet and take to the court.

“Redland Bay Tennis Club is lucky enough to have won two Shoreline Community Grants, the first grant we used for an inclusion day with our local schools, for the students to have a go at tennis and just have a lot of fun – it’s about giving everyone the same opportunities,’ Tim said.

“Our second grant has helped us organise and host our ovarian cancer awareness fundraiser, which is very close to our hearts. We will put on some morning tea, play some tennis and most importantly raise awareness. Anyone in our community is welcome to come along. All you need to do is register your attendance.”

Redland Bay Tennis Club offer court hire for community use, whether you want to have a game with family or some friends. Within the club, Bayside Tennis Coaching also have a very comprehensive program for 3-year-olds right up to adults, covering all elements of the game.

The Ace Awareness for Ovaries Ladies Day is taking place on Sunday, September 18 at Redland Bay Tennis Club from 9am-12 noon.

Everyone is welcome to take part in this free event, you do not need to know how to play tennis to get involved.
