What’s on in the Moreton Bay region this winter

From family fun days and movies in the park to bonfire nights and more, here’s a look at some of the upcoming events across the Moreton Bay region that your family won’t want to miss. Plus, it’s all happening right around us at Kinma Valley!

With the winter school holidays quickly approaching, you might be wondering what the Moreton Bay region offers to keep the family entertained. If so, fear not, there’s a variety of exciting events taking place close to home, so you’ve got plenty to look forward to.

July  

Dayboro Show 

The annual Dayboro Show is celebrating its 66th anniversary and is pulling out all the stops to showcase all aspects of rural living including cattle displays, sheep herding, poultry exhibits as well as displays of the regions’ historic machinery and wood-chopping. You’ll love the side show alley, farm animals, horse events, dog show jumping, pavilion exhibits and fireworks as well as a mini rodeo for the kids. Tickets for children are free student tickets are $10 and adults $15. 

When: 8-9 July 2023, 9am – late

Bonfire Night, Sandstone Point 

Be sure to grab tickets to this event ASAP!  The evening will feature rides, live music and entertainment, including fire twirlers and fire combat performers. An array of winter comfort food and dessert options will be available from local food trucks, including Bonfire Night’s signature melted chocolate covered s’mores. If you ask us, it’s the ideal way to spend a winter evening rugged up under the stars!

Samford Show 

With heaps of fun-filled activities for the whole family including side show alley, rock climbing walls, a Ferris wheel, animal nursery, motocross, circus and live music. The Samford Show is the perfect day out with the whole family. You'll experience all that Samford has to offer and get a snapshot of country life, with the equestrian and cattle competition. Tickets start from $21.10.

Dolphins vs Panthers  

The Dolphins are returning to their home in Redcliffe to take on reigning premiers, the Panthers, at Kayo Stadium. Don’t miss out!

Movie in the Park, Bribie Island  

What’s not to love about a movie night in the park, especially when it’s for a screening of comedy classic, School of Rock (PG)! Be sure to pack some blankets and camping chairs so you can comfortably settle in for an evening of fun, laughter and entertainment under the stars. You can expect to enjoy local food trucks dishing up pre-movie dinner options and snacks as well as free face painting for the kids.

Moreton Bay Food & Wine Festival 

Returning for another year is the iconic Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival! With a range of activities across three days and indulge in the best local produce, live entertainment, seaside pop-up bars, cooking demonstrations and firework finales. Soak up the winter sunshine and raise a glass to good food, good wine and good company.

Caboolture Family Fun Day 

If free rides, stage shows, activities, show bags, markets and food stalls sound like your idea of a good time, then we think you’ll want to head over to Centenary Lakes Park for this year’s Caboolture Family Fun Day.

Movie in the Park, Narangba  

Head to Norfolk Lakes Park for a special screening of The Bad Guys (PG) under the stars. Just a short 5km from Kinma Valley, it’s easy to see how events like these make the Moreton Bay region so popular with growing families!
