Kinma Valley couple ready to make dream home a reality
An exciting new chapter is on the horizon for Moreton Bay locals Kim and Brian, one of the first buyers to secure land for their forever home at Kinma Valley.
We recently spoke with two of Kinma Valley’s first ever buyers, Brian and Kim, about their decision to secure land at Kinma Valley, and what they’re looking forward to about building their dream home.
Warner residents Brian, who works in defence and Kim, a midwife at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, are excited to build their forever home in a community that offers affordability, green spaces, parks and a vibrant central Neighbourhood Hub, as well as being connected to everything they need.
“We have moved a lot in the past 30 plus years and lived in various defence housing residences for Brian’s work. We have now come to the time in life where we want to settle down and find our forever home,” Kim said.
Attracted to lifestyle and location
The couple wanted to find the ideal location to bring their forever home dreams to life, with more space, and connections to the Sunshine Coast, where they enjoy spending their free time.
“We began our search by looking at rural properties. Rural living would have been too much of a commute to my work in Brisbane, so we kept looking, but found there wasn’t a lot available that was within our budget. Then we came across Kinma Valley and fell in love with the masterplan for the community.”
For Kim, the local amenities, location and lifestyle were an important factor in deciding where to build their dream home.
“We are attracted to the Sunshine Coast lifestyle,” Kim said. “We love going to the Sunshine Coast, visiting cafes and seeing movies, which is easily accessible from Kinma Valley by the highway. Morayfield also has a lot of dining, entertainment and shopping on offer, which we are excited about!
“Kinma was a bit further out from the city from our current home, so the location feels more open and spacious. We will be moving from Warner, where we currently live on a much smaller lot. Before that, we were in Townsville on a large lot, so we are looking forward to having more space once again.”
Planting roots for the family’s future
After seeing Kinma Valley on Facebook, the couple got in touch with Chrissy and Jamie for an on-site appointment, to see the site in person and learn more about the plans for the neighbourhood.
“We thought, it’s got good shopping centres close by, but you still feel away from everyone and all the hustle and bustle, and there’s a sense of tranquillity, being surrounded by nature,” Kim said. “We were delighted to buy a 660m2 block of land, which is more space than we currently have, and were impressed with the value for money and affordability.”
“We were thinking about future needs, and with Brian planning on retiring in a few years we want to leave a legacy for the kids. We have two sons, aged 28 and 29, and our eldest rents disability housing through the NDIS. Our youngest lives at home as he’s saving for his own place, so he’ll be moving to Kinma Valley with us.”
An exciting first-time home building experience
Brian and Kim are looking forward to building their own home for the first time and are excited to customise their dream house to suit their needs.
“We’ve never built our own home before, so it’s a brand-new experience. It was a bit nerve wracking at first, but we have lived in a lot of defence homes, so we know what we like and what we don’t like,” Brian said.
“We want a single level home that is a reasonable size, and a home that will suit our future needs, so this will be our dream home where we won’t have to move again. We’ve been looking at display villages for home design inspiration – it's very exciting!”
The couple have been guided and supported throughout the process so far by the Kinma Valley sales team.
“We wanted to register early and feel confident that our next step in life is sorted. The sales team, Chrissy and Jamie, are always prompt and responsive when answering any questions that we have,” Brian said.
