We’re excited to be unveiling exciting details of Kinma Valley’s first ever park! A nature-inspired adventure park, this playful space will be the first of many places for the young and young at heart to run, jump and play in the future Kinma Valley community!
Plans are well underway, so we sat down with Lendlease Senior Development Manager, Tanya Martin, to learn more about what inspired the design of this fun community space.
Climb, jump and glide like a squirrel glider!
The Park will be the community’s first Adventure Park, designed to encourage active play and adventure for kids of all ages, drawing its inspiration from the squirrel glider.
These fuzzy little marsupials are native to the local Moreton Bay region where Kinma Valley is located, and will be celebrated through the design of the park.
The park's play elements will encourage plenty of climbing and jumping, with the design featuring a number of landing platforms for kids to scale and explore, just like a squirrel glider would jump and soar from tree to tree!
“We are excited for this park to be both fun and educational, for residents and visitors.”
Kinma Valley’s squirrel glider adventure park will be located within Hazelwood, the community’s first residential precinct, and is anticipated to be complete in early 2025.
Nature at the heart of Kinma Valley’s parks
The Kinma Valley masterplan is created around a 31-hectare environmental corridor that runs through the centre of the community.
“The vision for Kinma Valley is to be nestled in nature and to be really respectful to the environment within which the community is being built,” Tanya said. “The first park is taking inspiration from that vision.
“Rather than fencing that area off, we’ve decided to adjoin all our local parks to it, as additional buffer to protect and preserve that native vegetation. There is such an environmental significance of this native vegetation, that each of the local parks will actually have a play feature as well as an educational feature which honours it.”
Dream beneath the trees at Kinma Valley
Targeting a 6 Star Green Star rating, more than thirty percent of Kinma Valley has been dedicated to open space, with a central parkland spanning the length of the community and over 6 kilometres of walking and cycle trails planned, ensuring you are never far away from the restorative power of nature.
