Family day out in Elliot Springs
We all spend so much time running between work, school, kids’ activities and appointments. Although divide and conquer is the mantra of the modern-day parent, it’s also great to spend time together. The Elliot Springs community boasts stunning views and a convenient lifestyle full of adventure, it’s the perfect place for a family day out.
Early Morning Hike at Bindal Ridge
Literally on our doorstep is Bindal Ridge (a 234 ha conservation zone), which features the Moongun walking trail. Moongun, which means ‘quoll’ in the native Bindal language, is a Class 3 dedicated walking trail, 4.2km return which takes about an hour round trip (at a general walking pace) to complete, with some steeper climb sections. There are plenty of rest stops along the way and once you get to the top, you’re greeted with 360o views, taking in the coastline of Magnetic Island and Cape Cleveland. For residents, access the track from Wadda Mooli Park. Alternatively, if you’re visiting the area, parking is available at Wadda Mooli Park.
Lunch at The Hub
The Hub by Essentially Fresh is the perfect spot for a post walk caffeine pit stop, and you could even stay for lunch! Who doesn’t love a cheeky homemade sausage roll, or yummy sweet treat. The Hub is a great place to meet, eat and relax. And when the kids start getting itchy feet again, there is plenty of space for them to run around while you sit back and relax.
Play time in Wadda Mooli Park
Whether you’re looking for a super playground, shady BBQ area, fun learn to ride space or to take your mountain biking skills to the next level, Wadda Mooli Park really has something for everyone. Staying active and enjoying time outside is made easy with a basketball hoop, junior playing fields and there’s even a place for your four-legged friends in the dedicated dog park. Wadda Mooli Park has fast become one of Townsville’s favourite destinations and is an ideal space to spend a few fun-filled hours with family and friends.
