New to the neighbourhood, Grant and Emily have taken the opportunity to plant permanent roots in the community they love so much, waving goodbye to renting by securing a block of land to build their very own dream home in the Aspect release.

Grant, Emily, and their 19-year-old daughter Lily made the decision to buy land and build after a successful trial-run living in the neighbourhood.

“We are currently renting in Elliot Springs as a bit of a 'try before you buy' situation,” Emily said. “Recently the perfect block of land became available, and we did not want to miss out on it!”

Living an adventurous and active lifestyle, the couple are avid scuba divers and travellers. Grant, who works as a Senior Advanced Care Paramedic with Queensland Ambulance Service, enjoys training and competing in triathlons, and rock climbing. Emily manages a corporate project management office and is a passionate home cook, who loves entertaining their loved ones.

A spacious block with room to create their own oasis

With their hearts set on a large block of land, with plenty of space for outdoor living and entertaining, the couple worked with Elliot Springs Sales Consultant, Meryl, to find the perfect lot for their vision.

“Meryl has made the buying process almost too easy,” Emily said. “We wanted a larger block, we both have ideas for an edible garden that is beautiful as well as functional. We wanted to also have space for a pool and a shed.”

“The Aspect land release had us sold, with an amazing 979m2 battle-axe block that gives us the size we want, some incredible privacy and the most spectacular views, as we are on the edge of the estate. It really couldn't be more perfect!”

Building a bespoke home for now and in the future

With plans to begin building in 2024, the family will soon select a local, boutique builder to create a bespoke home.

“We’re looking forward to building our dream forever home,” Emily said.  “We are going to build a bespoke home, to take advantage of the amazing block we have secured and the views we have.”

On the couple’s design checklist are open plan living areas, an entertainer’s kitchen and outdoor space.

“For our home build, we want the style to be modern, open and light,with high ceilings, lots of fresh air and windows to take advantage of the beautiful hills around us,” Emily said.

“Due to Grant's shift work, the main suite and how it connects to the house will need to be considered as it needs to be a bit of an oasis from the noise of the household.”

Conveniently located community living

Having fallen in love with life among the trees in Elliot Springs, the family are glad to be setting down roots in an ideal location.

“We love the community feel out here, the parks and natural elements throughout the development are just beautiful,” Emily said. “We love the south side of Townsville, and having easy access from Elliot Springs to Fairfield, the city and the ring road to get us wherever we need, it just made sense.”
