Defence couple build their forever home
First-time homeowners Melissa and Wayne Morris are excited to start life in Elliot Springs in their newly built dream home
Defence couple Melissa and Wayne Morris are settling into life at Elliot Springs in their newly constructed forever home and are ready to enjoy the benefits of living in a connected, masterplanned community.
The couple were drawn to Elliot Springs for it natural surrounds, which encourages outdoor recreation and the thriving community.
“We liked the idea of being in a community that felt like it was away from the hustle and bustle of inner Townsville, but is still only a short drive to any amenities,” Melissa said.
“We built with AP Williams and have an open plan house with 4 bedrooms. As first-time homeowners, we cannot fault AP Williams, who made the process so easy to navigate.”
The couple are currently doing an unaccompanied posting for Wayne’s work in Darwin, until the end of 2023.
“With Wayne away for work, living in a connected, friendly and close-knit community was very important for us,” Melissa said.
“We’re excited to enjoy our new home and watch the community as it grows. I love the location and being surrounded by nature, while still having great local amenities at our doorstep, from Wadda Mooli Park to the walking trails and community hub.”
“We know there are a few defence families and couples here, with the close proximity to the two defence bases in Townsville (RAAF Townsville and Lavarack),” Wayne said.
“We’re looking forward to meeting and getting to know our neighbours at some of the regular community events, like the Bindal Ridge Fun Run and Food Truck Festivals.”
Here's some of the top reasons more defence families are choosing to call Elliot Springs home.
Enjoy an active lifestyle, with nature right on your doorstep
There are endless opportunities to stay fit and healthy within the community. Residents can lace up their running shoes and get their steps up at Bindal Ridge – a 234-hectare conservation zone with a 4.2km return walk to the top of the ridge, with mountain bike trails to enjoy.
Locals also enjoy Wadda Mooli Park, a popular and leafy green recreation destination for the community, which features:
- An all-inclusive playground with 10m high tree house
- Learn to ride area for the little ones
- Mountain bike skills area
- Dog off-leash park
- Junior sports field
- Basketball hoop
- Picnic shelters & BBQs
- Hardcourts are currently being constructed and are expected to open later this year.
A future base for our defence community
Elliot Springs is growing, with residents now living in two neighbourhoods, Aspect and Whites Creek. A big development milestone has been the opening of the community’s first BP service station, and the districts award-winning playground, Wadda Mooli Park.
