Elliot Springs’ Sprout Hub brings Qld-first to Townsville
Townsville, 08 November 2018: Lendlease’s Elliot Springs master-planned development is bringing a first to Townsville with the construction of a multi-use community Sprout Hub commencing this week.
The Sprout Hub at Elliot Springs will be just the fourth to be delivered in Australia and the first of its kind in Queensland.
Scheduled to open in April 2019, the Hub will contribute to the second stage of Elliot Springs’ four hectare Wadda Mooli Park, and will include a café, indoor community meeting space, digital portal and toilet facilities.
Lendlease Regional Development Manager, Simon Walker said “Our vision for Elliot Springs has always been to celebrate the true meaning of community, by delivering a space where every resident can feel a strong sense of support and belonging.
“Enhanced by the surrounding park facilities and vibrant natural environment, Elliot Springs’ Sprout Hub will be a place where residents can draw on and be supported by a range of diverse programs and activities, tailored to the needs of the growing community.”
Local not-for-profit organisation Community Gro will manage and operate the facility, providing locals with the chance to come together for coffee, host and attend group meetings, access helpful information and resources, and attend a variety of support sessions designed to meet community needs.
Community Gro Business Development Manager Sarah Staunton said “At Community Gro, we believe in the power of community. With more than 40 years’ experience in service delivery, we are dedicated to changing lives by delivering programs that offer individuals and families financial and social guidance to live with confidence and independence.
“The Sprout Hub at Elliot Springs will allow us to provide a friendly and welcoming space where our team can offer support tailored to growing the capacity of individuals and strengthening families in our community.”
The Sprout Hub model was launched in 2014 with a pilot project run by Sprout Ventures for Lendlease and LandCorp in Western Australia’s Alkimos Beach, aimed at encouraging community connection through networking and collaboration.
