The business originally started out as a construction company named Civil & Civic, before changing its name to Lendlease in 1961. During the early stages of his career, Dick led teams responsible for constructing the foundation of the Sydney Opera House, developing well-known landmarks such as Australia Square, and providing housing for thousands of people in residential estates.
