The legacy of Lendlease in Australia

Lendlease has a rich and extensive history in Australia, dating all the way back to 1958. The business originally started out as a construction company named Civil & Civic, before changing its name to Lendlease in 1961. Since its foundation, Lendlease has been involved in many landmark projects across different sectors, including residential, commercial, retail, healthcare, retirement and infrastructure.

With a strong presence in major Australian cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, it’s safe to say Lendlease has a diverse and iconic portfolio of developments across the nation.

From humble beginnings, a legacy was born

It’s hard to believe that the Lendlease brand was built from just 35 tradesmen and £10,000. But that is exactly the foundations of its origin story – crafted by founder, Dick Dusseldorp, who had big plans for the business.

During the early stages of his career, Dick led teams responsible for constructing the foundation of the Sydney Opera House, developing well-known landmarks such as Australia Square, and providing housing for thousands of people in residential estates.

Over the past 60+ years, Lendlease has achieved plenty of major milestones – some of which you’re probably already familiar with. You can learn more about these achievements here. However, its biggest legacy of all is its commitment to shaping cities, reimagining communities and creating places for everyone to enjoy.

A household name you know and trust

When you’re making a large investment like purchasing land, you want to rely on a name you know and trust. Don’t just take our word for it – hear from buyers and residents who have chosen to call a Lendlease community home.

“We found the buying and building process to be very smooth. Lendlease did a great job helping to find the right block of land then communicating with us so we were kept informed from start to finish. Our home is elevated so we have city views which we love.” - Belynda, Springfield Rise (QLD) resident

“We moved into our home 2 years ago and absolutely love living here. Surrounded by so much beautiful landscape, and all the future planned amenities and infrastructure within the estate it's the perfect place to raise our young family.” - Amber, Calderwood Valley (NSW) resident

“It’s very convenient that Kings Central is within walking distance to the Werrington Train Station, as well as schools, a university and the shops all being close by. “I also love the ambience in the western suburbs of Sydney, I try and go there every weekend. There’s always kangaroos and animals to see and we just don’t have that in the inner west.” - Jocell, first home buyer at Kings Central
