Skilling and Employment achieves milestone
Our Skilling & Employment team has celebrated the opening of the renovated centre having assisted more than 4,000 people to gain employment.
Since opening in 2005, the centre in St Marys, Sydney, has assisted people in the local community at a rate of over one job per day, referred 800 clients to accredited training, and provided job skills courses to 1,200 people.
Jan Pastuck, Skilling & Employment Centre Manager said: “It is fantastic to be able to assist local people to obtain local jobs. Whether it is a young person obtaining an apprenticeship, a mum returning to the workforce, a career advancement or some casual work. Meaningful employment is so important for a person’s confidence and self-esteem. Every job also brings economic value to the community.
The fresh, bright refurbished centre is easily accessible and the friendly, welcoming employees do their very best to help every person who walks through the door. Kim, Alyssa and I look forward to assisting even more jobseekers from our Jordan Springs Community in the years to come.”
The 4,000 jobs milestone celebration was attended by members of the newly formed Advisory Group. This includes representatives from the Skilling & Employment Centre and Lendlease as well as State Government, Blacktown City Council, Penrith City Council, industry and training providers.
