Journey to Employment
Since the centre was opened in 2005, many of our trainees have progressed to new and successful careers. Read about some of their journeys to employment below.
Jennifer first applied online for a role at the popular brand, Bonds. We knew she was the right person for the job and suggested she approach the manager of the store with her resume. Soon after, Jennifer was contacted for an interview and got the job. She was very excited to get back to work in her hometown.
William Po Ching stumbled upon the centre just one week after he’d moved to Sydney and was looking for work. We helped him revise his resume and prepare cover letters. William used our facilities to search for jobs, applying online for various positions. Boosted by his skills in warehousing, forklifts and health and safety he found full-time employment within 3 weeks.
Jason is one of our many success stories and like a few others, it started a bit rocky. After Jason was made redundant, we helped him refine his resume leading to a steady stream of casual work. We then contacted Jason about an exciting opportunity just a 10-minute bike ride from his front door. He came to the centre and applied. Before he knew it he was working full-time and still is today.
Watch Jane Poldin and Amber Sneesby share their stories of finding suitable employment close to home and successfully re-joining the workforce after a short break.
