Welcome to Harpley’s Newest Playground

Harpley’s brand new Townley Boulevard Park, which opened officially on 30^th July, is the living embodiment of the delight that transpires when play meets art meets spaces to relax. And this all-age park has something for everyone – yes, even a ping pong table.  

The park’s nautical theme, inspired by the journey of the Townleys, one of the early settler families who arrived on the ship, Harpley, and settled in the Werribee area, blends perfectly into Harpley’s lakeside location.

The park was designed in collaboration with existing Harpley families, who had the opportunity to share their thoughts about the sort of amenities they wanted to enjoy.

There are green spaces for parents to relax as their children burn energy on the equipment. There’s a whale bone play structure housing slides, ropes, nets and swings set amongst a backdrop of rolling grassy mounds and coastal plantings. There’s a basketball court and ping pong table, perfect for a spot of friendly competition. Picnic tables and BBQs are provided under a custom timber shade structure, supported by striking 5m tall steel posts referencing the masts of the migrant ship, Harpley. Concrete turtles make the perfect obstacles for clambering over, there is recycled hardwood timber seating for relaxing on and, crucially, a fully serviced toilet block means you can keep playing until you’re ready to return home. Of course, there’s also plenty of grassy space to kick a ball, have a picnic and generally enjoy the natural surroundings.

For residents, it’s just another reminder of why Harpley is a place to live well. After all, there’s nothing more enriching to quality of life than having an expanse of immersive greenery, right outside your front door.
