Over 1000 Aurora residents and the wider Whittlesea community enjoyed a Family Festival and Community Day on 31st January, celebrating the community’s new plans to expand, led by developer, Lendlease.
“We’re proud of our plans to continue Aurora’s tradition of delivering a fantastic community and lifestyle in Epping – and our event was a chance for everyone in the community to find out more about what is in store,” said Neil O’Connor, General Manager of Lendlease Communities in Victoria.
Better Homes & Gardens personality, Jason Hodges was a highlight as the event’s MC, sharing his years of expertise in landscaping and gardening throughout the day.
A market hall featured a range of stalls from the Whittlesea Monday Market, plus stalls showcasing local traders, community organisations and Aurora’s builders.
Food trucks served up an array of international cuisines, and the main stage was alive with cultural entertainment from martial arts and line dancers, to performances by the local dance school.
For the kids Peppa Pig, Australia’s most loved children’s character, twice took the stage whilst activities such as arts and crafts, treasure hunts, face painting and a petting zoo certainly put smiles on their faces.
“Lendlease’s vision is to create truly healthy, thriving communities –this underpins our planning for Aurora’s 3,100 new properties, set to become home to 10,000 new residents,” said Mr O’Connor.
“The idea for this Community Day stemmed from our focus on delivering Aurora as a cohesive, socially-connected neighbourhood,” he said.
