Sustainability and Environment
The natural environment plays a leading role in life at Calderwood Valley.
From its water sensitive urban design to its land rehabilitation programs, Calderwood Valley will be a community leading the way in sustainable family living.
Working in partnership with builders, we’ll show you how easy it is to incorporate sustainability initiatives into your new home. From your choice of home and orientation on your block, to the appliances you choose to run within it, you can reduce your household running costs and minimise your impact on the natural environment by thinking carefully about how you design you home.
Sustainability measures for Calderwood Valley may include:
- Solar hot water systems with natural gas boost
- 1.5kW solar panels to each display home
- Educating residents on the benefits of efficient lighting, heating and cooling appliances
- Other initiatives that builders can suggest for more efficient energy outcomes.
All homes constructed at Calderwood Valley must comply with Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) requirements that use specific design strategies for lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation to improve energy and water efficiency.
Livable Housing Australia.
The future Calderwood Valley display village, anticipated for late 2016, will incorporate some Liveable Housing Australia design principles designed to enable a house to evolve with the lifestyle and accessibility needs of people.
